A Mission of Christ-Centered Mercy
In obedience to the call of Christ to love the least and the forgotten, Divine Mercy, in partnership with Our Lady of Tears Foundation, carried out a prison outreach at Nkpor Prison in Anambra State, Nigeria.
This outreach was rooted in the Gospel truth that every human life is valuable before God, and that His mercy reaches even into the deepest places of brokenness.
As believers, we were reminded that ministry is not only found in churches, but also in places where hope seems lost—yet where God is still powerfully at work.

“I Was in Prison and You Visited Me” — A Gospel in Action
The foundation of this outreach was the words of Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew
“I was in prison and you came to visit me"
With this scripture in our hearts, the team entered Nkpor Prison not as visitors of judgment, but as vessels of compassion, carrying food, prayer, and encouragement.
Each inmate encountered was treated with dignity, love, and respect—reflecting the heart of Christ who never turns away from the broken.
Sharing Food, Sharing the Love of Christ
Food items were shared with inmates as a practical expression of God’s love. But beyond physical nourishment, the deeper message was spiritual: God has not abandoned you.
Many inmates received the gifts with gratitude, but even more powerful was the atmosphere of prayer, encouragement, and fellowship that filled the prison environment.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
This truth was evident throughout the visit—God’s presence was felt even within prison walls.
A Moment of Prayer, Hope, and Restoration
The team spent time praying with inmates, speaking words of hope, healing, and restoration over their lives. Many expressed deep appreciation for being remembered and spiritually encouraged.
We were reminded that no situation is beyond God’s redemption, and that He alone can transform lives from the inside out.
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away, behold, the new has come.”
— 2 Corinthians 5:17
This message of new beginnings resonated strongly throughout the outreach.
Unity in Christian Service
The partnership between Divine Mercy and Our Lady of Tears Foundation reflects the beauty of unity in the Body of Christ. When ministries come together in love, the impact multiplies and lives are touched more deeply.
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!”
— Psalm 133:1
Together, we are called to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a hurting world.
Spiritual Reflection: Mercy That Breaks Every Wall
The Nkpor Prison outreach reminded us that God’s mercy is not confined by walls, locks, or human judgment. His grace reaches into every place where hearts are open to Him.
Prison may limit physical movement, but it cannot limit the power of God to heal, restore, and renew.
As Christians, we are called to see people not by their past, but through the eyes of Christ—eyes of mercy, forgiveness, and hope.
Carrying the Light of Christ
As the team left Nkpor Prison, we carried with us a renewed burden for souls and a deeper understanding of Christ’s love for the forgotten.
This outreach is a reminder that every act of kindness is a seed of the Gospel, and every expression of mercy is a reflection of Jesus Himself.
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
— Matthew 5:16
